Children’s Prayer new series: The Magnificat
Blessed are you among women!
When Mary was pregnant with Jesus she went to help her cousin Elizabeth, who was also expecting a baby. When Elisabeth saw her, she said ”Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises to her” (Luke 1:45). The Canticle of Mary or Magnificat is Mary’s reply.
Over the centuries, Christians have prayed with the Magnificat. Still today, Christians all over the world join together in a single voice to sing it. I hope that the Magnificat inspires your prayers during Advent as we await the birth of the Saviour.
PS You’ll find the Magnificat in the story “Jesus’ Birth is Announced” in the Children’s Bible.
